Below is my first review for the new EP "Fanfare For Love". Let me know what you think!
by Markos Gyzi | Wednesday, February 17 Originally from Perth, but now relocated to Melbourne, Coby Grant has delivered her new EP entitled Fanfare For Love. Her debut EP Coby Grant is in Full Colour was the outcome of collaborating with some of the industries production heavy weights, Peter Malick (who has worked with Norah Jones) and Anthony J Resta (Collective Soul, Elton John, Duran Duran, Shawn Mullins) who produced two songs each on the EP. Having supported artists such as Newton Faulkner and Lisa Mitchell, relentlessly touring and playing many most festivals, this next EP shows her maturation as an artist. Recorded in Boston with the aid of Anthony J Resta and Karyadi Sutedja at Studio Bopnique Musique the production and song writing is certainly more refined and focused. My personal favourite of these four songs is 'Once Upon a Long Gone Time', which to me illustrates Coby’s diversity both as a performer and recording artist. There are elements in her performances that’s reminiscent of Sheryl Crowe in her earlier years, bordering between pop/folk and alt-country. Her future is looking pretty bright as this is music is easily accessible and listenable to most. Keep an eye out for Coby Grant.
